A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR - Amy Gooden
Welcome to Monticello UMC Weekday School. My name is Amy Gooden and I became the Director at Monticello in the spring of 2020. I grew up and currently still live in Statesville and I have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been the 2 year old teacher here for the last 12 years and interim director back in 2010 for 6 months. I also owned and operated my own registered home daycare for 5 years and worked in another local daycare. My husband’s name is Jonathan and we have a son Konnor, 18, and a daughter Karrigan, 12. Both of my children attended here at Monticello Weekday School before starting Kindergarten. We also have a cat named Biscuit. I have loved being in the classroom and love teaching preschool children but I am also blessed to have been led to taking on this role and be able to continue being a part of the Monticello family, our preschool families and the community. I believe the preschool experience should be fun and exciting for the whole family and we gladly welcome new families every year.
