Our goal here at Monticello UMC Weekday School is to provide all of the children in our care a
clean, safe, comfortable, loving environment where they can play and learn. We believe in
respect toward self and others and want the children to feel safe, supported and happy.
All children are encouraged to think for themselves so they are more likely to act
independently. Children learn from everything that happens to them so all aspects of a child’s
development are equally important and interwoven. Learning should be meaningful and fun
so the children should be actively involved through hands-on experiences where the process of
learning is more important than the end product. Because all children are at different levels in
their learning and develop at different rates, we celebrate what the children can do and use
that as a starting point in their learning.
At Monticello Weekday School, we also believe that leading children to knowledge and love of
God and Jesus Christ is also an important aspect of growth. Bible stories and songs will be
incorporated into our daily curriculum so the children will begin building a sturdy base upon
which to develop a strong spiritual life. Using developmentally appropriate experiences that
will help meet the individual needs and abilities of a child’s mental, physical, social, emotional
and spiritual development are important at our Weekday School.
We maintain an open door policy for parents. This means that parents are always welcome to
call or drop in to see their children. Please take into consideration the schedule when
dropping in or calling and remember that visitors usually cause children to react in an excited
manner that does not normally occur.
